Week 14
4/4/21
This was my first semester back in school after a ten-year
break. I am so thankful I was led to taking this class to dip my toes back in. This
course has been very inspiring from learning more about integrity, gratitude,
and perveance to establishing habits of character, finding your passion and disciple
leadership. The biggest takeaway, however, is the significance of relying on our
Father in Heaven. As we rely on and align our will with God’s we can create a
life full of meaning. The journey to entrepreneurship is not an easy one and to
take it you need to depend on guidance from Heavenly Father to help keep the
rest of your life in balance. Entrepreneurship requires acts of faith, which is
something that develops the more use it. It takes a lifetime of learning but
that is what this life is for.
My last bit of advice for someone wishing to begin the
journey of entrepreneurship is this, begin with the end in mind. I have a house
filled with four small children; we watch a lot of Disney movies. One of my daughter’s
favorites is Moana. In the movie Moana is trying to learn how to sail and is
given the advice “Knowing where you are by knowing where you’ve been.” This is
important but even more important for sailing the seas of life is knowing which
direction to sail in by knowing where you want to end up. President Monson said
of this in his first presidency message of June 1989, “Finishers Wanted,” “It has been said that the door of history
turns on small hinges, and so do people’s lives. We are constantly making small
decisions. The outcome determines the success or failure of our lives. That is
why it is worthwhile to look ahead, to set a course, and at least be partly
ready when the moment of decision comes. True finishers have the capacity to
visualize their objective.”
Lastly, I would caution to
never lose sight of the reason we are here. And that is to prove ourselves to our
Father in Heaven. He created a plan for us to follow. This plan revolves around
families, they are the pivotal point of our lives. They should remain the priority
and setting up guardrails can help us to keep this at the forefront of our
minds. Guardrails are safety.
